Employee visa (outside Czechia)

The employee visa is the Czech Employee Card (zaměstnanecká karta). On this route you travel from Czechia to a Czech embassy or consulate in a third country and file there. I first check that the employer has reported the vacancy to the Labour Office. Each document gets its apostille and certified translation. I then book your appointment at the consulate, where you file the application in person. After you arrive in Czechia, you register at a Ministry of the Interior office within 30 days. Your biometrics are taken there at a separate appointment.

Employee visa (in Czechia)

If you already hold a Czech long-term visa or long-term residence permit and your job is confirmed, you apply in person at the Ministry of the Interior. I first check the vacancy number and your proof of accommodation. Then I arrange the translations and book your appointment. The Ministry decides within 60 days. Complex cases can take up to 90.

Business visa

This is the route to working in Czechia as a sole trader or a company director. You can only apply once you hold a trade licence or a directorship, so I put those steps in order first. You file in person at a Czech embassy. The embassy may also interview you, and if you need an interpreter there, one goes with you for the extra fee shown below.

Student residence permit

Studying in Czechia takes a long-term residence permit for study (povolení k dlouhodobému pobytu za účelem studia). A first application is filed in person at a Czech embassy. If you already hold a Czech long-term visa or residence permit, you can file at the Ministry of the Interior instead. Your letter of acceptance or proof of enrolment comes first. Around it I prepare proof of accommodation and proof of funds. Comprehensive health insurance is required, and an embassy application also needs a criminal record certificate. Korean documents need an apostille and a certified translation. The decision comes within 60 days.

Trade licence

A trade licence (živnostenské oprávnění) lets you work in Czechia as a sole trader. I help you pick the trade and prepare the owner's consent for your business address. Your Korean criminal record certificate is translated and filed with the notification at the Trade Licensing Office. Non-EU nationals also need a residence permit for business.

Employee visa renewal

Your card must be renewed before it expires, and the application can go in from 120 days before that date. The expiry date sits in your case in the client portal. I confirm that your employment continues and renew the proof of income and accommodation, along with a new insurance certificate. Only documents that have changed are translated again. Once the application is filed, your stay remains lawful while the Ministry decides, even if your card expires in the meantime.

Business residence extension

Staying on as a sole trader or company director takes more paperwork than an employment extension. Besides proof of your monthly income, you have to show that your taxes and contributions are paid. I gather both and file before your permit ends, and the date sits in your case in the portal.

Family reunification extension

Family members living here on a family permit keep their stay by renewing it. I check the main applicant's status and renew the proof of your relationship and accommodation. Filing at about the same time as the main applicant's own extension is usually easiest, and both dates sit in the portal.

Student residence extension

To keep studying here, you apply before your current permit ends. Its expiry date sits in your case in the client portal. I renew your proof of enrolment and of accommodation. I also check that your proof of funds and your comprehensive health insurance still hold. You do not have to file in person. A representative with a power of attorney (plná moc) can file at the Ministry of the Interior. After approval your biometrics are taken in person at a separate appointment. The Ministry decides within 60 days.

Permanent residence

s.r.o. formation for foreign founders, full package

You can found the company without speaking Czech. An interpreter sits with you at the notary and your Korean documents are translated, so you never sign a deed you cannot follow. The notary's fee and the registration costs are included here too.
