None of the following is a warning. Czechia is a straightforward place to do business. But a few local expectations differ enough from what foreign teams assume that they are worth stating explicitly.

Language is a business decision, not a courtesy

English is common in Prague and in international companies. It is much less common in regional manufacturing, in public administration and among the people who actually sign off on a supply agreement. Operating only in English narrows the market you can reach.

Decisions are made carefully and then held

Expect a slower yes than you might get elsewhere, with more questions and less enthusiasm in the early meetings. That is not disinterest. Once a decision is made, it tends to be stable, and switching costs are treated seriously.

Paperwork is expected to be correct

Institutions, banks and larger companies are procedurally strict. A document that is nearly right is a document that will come back. Building in a review step before submission saves more time than chasing afterwards.

Local presence changes response rates

A Czech phone number, a Czech-speaking contact and a local address materially change how quickly you get answers — from suppliers, from landlords, and from public bodies. This does not require a subsidiary and a team; it requires someone here who can act on your behalf.

Hiring and employment are formalised

Employment relationships, notice periods and payroll obligations are well defined and enforced. Contractor-style arrangements that work elsewhere are not automatically safe here — take advice from a qualified specialist before you structure a team.

Most entry problems are not strategic. They are the cost of not having anyone local who can pick up the phone.
